Update

Been up to a lot model wise the last few weeks I have been working on my space wolves for the doubles tournament and also my Russians for bolt action and my friend passed on some clear bases to me for my warzone Mishima.

Also trying to prep for the Star Trek attack wing tournament next weekend where i hope to maintain the title of highest ranked Klingon.

Also need to start work on my Malifaux crew so I can play at the club

Warzone at Salute 2014

So salute has come and gone for another year and it was good fun as usual just wish it was a weekend event like the Americans have with adepticon or gencon.

Anyway first stop unsurprisingly was the prodos booth and it was heaving from start to finish with people trying to see and get product. I was pleased it was doing so well but didn't get a chance to properly catch up with any of the prodos guys.

So here is what I took picture wise all I bought was some kunshu dragons which they had a small stock of.

I was asked by Jim and Sebastian for some specific pictures so here goes

I had a great day but didn't pick anything up other than the kunshu riders.

Salute and 10000 views

Salute 2014 is this Saturday and I can't wait Prodos is at salute this year and they are bring surprise models.

this may or may not feature a friend rendered as a confused model

There is a supposed to be a new Mishima model in the cabinet which I am hoping are flying lizards

And they releasing the imperial faction too.

Warzone action or how I got blown up

So Paul and I got together for our first proper 1000pt game with cards

We got take and hold with quarter deployment which was awesome 

Set up and army lists

Capitol.

Upgrade - crazy horses

Warlord big bob

10 Airborne

5 free marines

5 heavy infantry

2 purple sharks 

Orca

Bahaus 

Warlord - Angelika Drachen

5 hussars - schnel and iron will with a rocket launcher

Turn 1 - Capitol initiative

The Capitol forces moved up and Angelika moved up and called in an air strike which got lost en route thanks to Bob

The sharks moved up and blasted a jugger to bits.

The Vulcan moved towards the objective the free marines infiltrated to and flamed 3 of them

The free marines retaliated with c4 but failed to scratch the impressive Bahaus designed armour

Max cleared another marine 

The airborne deployed launching missiles as they land 

Before the missile attacks from 10 airborne....

After the fusillade....

This made me very sad...

Turn 2 

The juggernauts opened up destroying the sharks followed by the heavy infantry killing the juggernauts with armour piercing rounds 

The orca pumps out lots of fire immobilising the Vulkan.

At this point Steiner and 2 hussars were all I had left able to effectively fight so i conceded for lunch.

Was a great game the first half of turn 1 I couldn't fail a roll my Vulcan passed every life support check I rolled.

But the dice turned against me in at the top of one when the airborne landed and I lost so much.

Oh well back to another game.

Dust Tactics

So I popped to the local games store this weekend and picked up some new toys also a very good game

The Dust background is a continuance of WW2 with a dash of alien tech and removal of Hitler

I picked up all three starters and the quality is good and it all comes pre-built and pre primed in a faction colour

each Taskforce contains a paper battle-map, a rulebook and a set of faction dice.

The game plays with specialist dice to resolve tests the dice have 3 symbols. A faction logo which is what you need for most rolls and then a shield which helps in cover rolls and a target symbol which i haven't used yet

The game plays somewhat like Deadzone in that it is a grid based game and movement/range  is based on number of squares

The models information comes on a card, here is a breakdown of the card layout.

The game plays quickly but is also has a tactical depth rivalling most war games.

The Rulebook including fluff info is available Dustrules_starter.pdf

After the starters the models to expand the range are varied and interesting including some superheroes.

Warzone painting log part 2

So I have finished my part for Big Jim's painting challenge but still have a lot of time to go so built some more Bauhaus and also reworking on my Dark Legion.

For month 2 I painted Max Steiner, a squad of hussars and a squad of juggernauts.

I have built 5 etoiles mortant and a Venusian ranger and 2 vorreitters I may hold of until next month challenge for them though as I still have to base of build a load more.

For my legion (haven taken photos of most of it yet) I primed alakhai with his new sword the old one was too small, a Razide with a nazgaroth and my squad of undead legionnaires. I also built and primed Golgotha, a squad of Praetorian Stalkers with scythes of semai and a Praetorian Behemoth 

So lots to paint now very exciting times.
