Salute and new toys

What a great weekend I had even if I couldn’t go to Salute this year there was plenty shared on the internet that I was excited for it still

Firstly Halo the new game from Spartan was demoed and it looked amazing so much so that they also ran a deal this weekend to promote it giving a free bust with pre-orders so I pre-ordered and went for the Covenant bust

Also I finally made the leap into firestorm picking up the starters for Armada and Planetfall so small scale sci-fi goodness

Also a few club members went up and tried batman so will get to play that more which is awesome

And my good friends picked up some more Wolsung so even more steampunk action and the buildings will work for Malifaux and batman too so pretty happy all in all

So with all those filling my time going forward I think 40K is going into a box and going forward its either skirmish at 28mm and big battles at 10mm

Update and competition winner

Hi, so at a break in my board as need some bits to finish it and payday is not until next week.

Been working more on my bloodthirster
These are the highlights I am working on.

I got in a game of malifaux at the club which did not go well for me but I do love the game

Also I have done the draw and the winner is Neil Flood so I hope to get his malifaux starter or firestorm patrol fleet to him as soon as he confirms his preference.

STC’s and other stuff

I started with 40k in rogue trader and it was underdeveloped rubbish (i know some people will hate me for that) but it was a mismatch of sci-fi and fantasy tropes where as the next release started to properly form the history that we know and love

The grim stagnant Imperium that cannot create only replicate from ancient templates found on distant worlds used by the Mechanicus who really should be called the ‘Maintenance’. But the STC that was the foundation of imperial technology is gone all so they can release new models. Which whilst I understand they need to evolve their game and keep money rolling in, just feels wrong taking the core background and changing or removing at a whim devalues the background to me. What is the point in liking a faction that is being out advanced by the youngest race or out evolved by a genetic monstrosity if a year down the line the technology balances  out and what was a slight underdog is now prime in the universe again.

Now i realise this is because i am getting older i no longer think the big explosions are the most important part to the story i now was a consistency. I do understand the forge world heresy products being made into 40K relics that totally works or producing models or factions that are talked about in the background but haven’t had model for the game.

I love what they have done with Knights and the Mechanicus and especially the Daemonkin (though chaos should of always been this way mono god but mixed demons/marines)

Now there are games out there that i don’t like as much for the game but the fluff is giving 40K a run for its money and i am excited about the new Warhammer Fantasy as that is an evolution and a reset to the fluff.

I also have done more work on my Board needs detailing and flocking

And don’t forget i still have a competition going

Competition and up next

Firstly up next i have been working on my board for Open combat the terrain layout is complete so just painting and building the terrain and board.

I also played a game of 40K with a cheesy super heavy army and I expected to hate the game and actually enjoyed it rather a lot the game balanced out with my poor rolling

I also dabbled in Guildball I say dabbled because we didn't finish a game and I didn't have a clue what i was doing but I love the style of the game.

I have all the parts for my Khorne Daemonkin army but am now overwhelmed by the whole thing.

Then out of the blue I have been invited to play malifaux in a league which is awesome I love Malifaux, models game-play and especially setting its great

and lets not forget this - who wouldn't want a giant rabbit ridden by most likely drunk redneck gremlins.

Then there is Firestorm Armada a game i have always been interested in but never took the step

alongside the firestorm planetfall.

finally there is a new Kickstarter coming I am very interested in called  Devils Route 666

I hope to have more info on this shortly.

but with regard to the  Competition i have broken over 20,000 views and would like to say thanks.  I would like comments below as to which game to go for Firestorm or Malifaux and i will do a draw from the commenter's and send a starter box either a patrol fleet or a gang box.

I will run this for a few of a weeks until the 25th then I will announce the winner. please feel free to  share the post.
